The sharpening inserts - differences & use The anvil sharpening inserts are for blades that are ground at the same angle on both sides. The bypass sharpening inserts are intended for knives that are sharpened on one side.
- yellow: fine kitchen knives / pocket knives
- red: kitchen knife / secateurs / pruning shears / grinder / boning knife
- blue: meat cleaver
- purple: secateurs / grinder / bread knife
- pink: fine scissors / lawn shears
- grey: coarse scissors / hedge trimmers
- black: removing small burrs from the sharpened blade
